Expect mild weather in the lowlands, a nip in the air in Kathmandu and snowy conditions in the mountains during winter in Nepal. Lasting from November to February, the season also brings clear, crisp skies in the mountains, making it an ideal season for trekking and mountain viewing from Kathmandu and Pokhara. Snow turns most trekking destinations into a winter wonderland, and if you don’t mind the cold, Ghorepani Poon Hill, ABC trek, and Langtang Valley trek are some of the perfect trails for this season. The trails are quieter as are otherwise popular destinations such as Pokhara, Chitwan, and the Kathmandu Valley, allowing for peaceful exploration. Expect chilly mornings and evenings, especially in higher elevations, but pleasant daytime temperatures. In Chitwan National Park, winter is great for spotting wildlife gathering at watering holes.
