June to August in Nepal marks the summer as well as monsoon season, characterized by warm temperatures and frequent rainfall. While trekking opportunities are limited due to wet and treacherous conditions, unique trails in rain-shadowed regions of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Massifs are still viable such as Upper Mustang and Langtang Valley trek. Cultural enthusiasts can enjoy ropai (rice planting festival), Indra Jatra and Rato Macchindranath Jatra. It’s an excellent time to explore Kathmandu’s indoor attractions, such as museums and temples. The weather is generally humid with occasional clear spells, perfect for visiting tea plantations in Ilam. Expect dramatic cloud formations and misty mountains, creating a mystical atmosphere. Many skip this season because of the rain, meaning a less crowded but a more authentic Nepal experience.
