Day 01: Kathmandu /Gonggar Airport/Tsedang. Tsedang Hotel (Tsedang, the cradle of Tibetan, is 100KM away from the airport and 3500m above sea level.)
Day 02: AM: Visiting Yongbulakhang & Changdrup monastery
PM: Drive back to Lhasa
(Yombulakhang, the first palace for the first king in Tibetan history, is 15KM away from Tsedang town. The mountain slope palace was originally built in the second century, but the replica was rebuilt in the 1980s. Built in the 7th century by the king Sontsan Gambu, Chamdrok is one of the oldest temples in Tibet, 4KM away from the Tsedang hotel.)
Day 03: Potala Palace, Jokhang temple & Barkhor Street (Potala was the winter palace of the Dalailama, which was originally built in the 7th century by the king Sotsen Gampo and rebuilt to the present size by the 5th Dalailama in the 17th century. Situated at the heart of the oldest section of the Lhasa city,Jokhang , one of the oldest temples in Tibet, was built in the 7th century by the 33rd king¡ªSontsanganbu. Barkor is the middle pilgrimage circuit around Jokhang temple.)
Day 04: Sera Monastery, Drepung monastery & Norbulingka (Sera is the second biggest Gelupa Monastery in the north suburb of Lhasa, which was built in 1419 by Tsongapa¡¯s disciple¡ªSakya-yeshi. Built in 1416 by Tsongapa¡¯s disciple¡ªJamyang-choje, Drepung Monastery is the biggest Gelupa monastery in the west suburb of Lhasa. Built in the mid-18th century by the 7th Dalailama, Norbulingka, the Jewel Park was the Dalailama¡¯s summer palace, it covers 100 acres with palaces, pavilions and a zoo.
Day 05: Drive Lhasa to Shigatse via Gyantse with Kumbum & Pelkor Chode - Shigatse hotel
(Gyantse lies 260kms southwest of Lhasa on the Northern bank of Nyang Chu River. It takes around 8 hours to reach Gyantse crossing the Kamba La Pass(4800m) where the beautiful Yamdrok Tso will be seen and the Karo La Pass(5010m) where the year-around glacier will be seen. Gyantse has been known as a heroic town since Tibetans resisted the Young husband¡¯s British Expedition to Tibet in 1904. (Phalkor monastery was built in the 15th century by the local chieftain Raptan Kunsang under the guidance of the first Panchan lama. There are 100,000 images in the Kumbum Pagoda, both solid and painting. It is a real work of art; one of the mosst magnificent buildings in Tibet, strongly of Newari(Nwpal) architecture, erected in 1440 by Rabtan Kunsang )
(Shigatse is the second biggest city in Tibet, 90KMs away from Gyangtse. The famous Tashillunpo monastery in Shigatse , seat of the Panchan Lama, one of the six important Gelupa monasteries in China, was built in 1447 by the first Dalailama. )
Day 06: Drive to Xegar via Sakya. Qomolangma Hotel (It is 250kms from Shigatse to Xegar. Sakya monastery is located in the Zhongqu River valley about 30kms away from the Sino-Nepal Highway (Sakya-bridge).
Day 07: Drive to Everest Base camp with Rongbu monastery then back to Xegar Qomolangma Hotel above 5200m high Everest Base camp is 100km from the Qomolangma Hotel.
Rongbu monastery, only 7kms on the way to the base camp, is the highest monastery in Tibet where one can get a very good view of mountain Everest from.)
Day 08: Drive to Zhangmu. Zhangmu Hotel (250kms away from Xegar, Zhangmu is a little boarder town in the south slope of the Himalaya mountain range. It¡¯s a nice place to rest one or two nights there after your exhausted tour in the high plateau)
Day 09: Zhangmu exit.
